At Jimmy Grimboll's we carry out many stimulating activities for the younger ones to help develop their learning abilities. We follow the EYFS Framework specifically for the younger children.

The Early Years Foundation Stage

Jimmy Grimboll's deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. From September 2008 it is mandatory for all schools and early years providers in Ofsted registered settings attended by young children - that is children from birth to the end of the academic year in which a child has their fifth birthday. There are four main themes:

A Unique Child

This theme is about how children develop: they are all different, but should be treated equally. Positive relationships and good communication are vital. The children need to learn about risks and safety, how to make good choices, and how to stick to boundaries. They do best when all their physical and emotional needs are met.

Positive Relationships

This theme is about the children learning to manage their feelings and build friendships. we respect all kinds of families and aim to develop a positives two-way relationship with parents. We will support, listen to and work with the children to help them learn. A key person looks after each child.

Enabling Environments

This theme is about practitioners planning for and checking on each child's progress. We will involve parents and the local community. We will ensure that inside and outside spaces at the setting are safe, interesting and engaging. We will support children when they move on, working as a team to help your child succeed.

Learning and Development

This theme is about how the children learn-through play and exploration, with adult support for each individual. We will encourage the children to develop the child's creative and critical thinking, balancing the need for both the children and adults to lead the learning.

Activities for this age range include animal care, colouring, activities, board games, and word fun. Free play is something that is highly encouraged by all of our staff for all the children with a wide range of free play activities on offer. As well as these specific activities for the age range, there is also the chance for every child to take part in craft and team game activities.

As an 8 to 11 year old the children in this age range will be able to participate in residential nights away and also a variety of other activities specifically designed to cater for this age range. These activities include craft projects, art displays, team building and dance and drama sessions. Please visit the Holiday Club page to view what activities will be available to your children.

The 11 - 14 age range is catered for at Jimmy Grimboll's Holiday Club. This age group will take part in different activities specifically for there age group to keep them occupied. Activities will include things like Community Projects and Outdoor Pursuits day trips and weeks away.

Children aged 11 - 14 who attend Jimmy Grimboll’s are given the chance to show more responsibility. We believe at this age, the children are old enough to be given responsibility, such as being a team leader, and that they deserve to be treated less like children. Also as an 11 - 14 year old at Jimmy Grimboll’s the children will be offered privileges that the younger children will not. For example certain activities or residential trips will be strictly for those over 11 but these privileges are seen as a reward for their cooperation as an elder member of Jimmy Grimbolls.
